WAYNESBORO, VA - In a shocking incident on August 4, 2023, a 42-year-old woman was run over by a vehicle following a domestic dispute at Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant's parking lot in Waynesboro, VA.
According to the Waynesboro Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 156 Lucy Lane at 3:33 pm. The preliminary investigation revealed that the female victim and Gary Beavers, a 35-year-old male from New Market, were embroiled in a domestic altercation that escalated to violence.
The report states that after parking the vehicle in the restaurant's parking lot, the female victim exited the car with a minor child. Beavers then allegedly took control of the vehicle and deliberately struck the woman with it before fleeing the scene.
The victim was promptly transported to Augusta Health for treatment of her injuries. Thankfully, the minor child was not injured in the incident.
Authorities later located Beavers in New Market and he was arrested by the New Market Police Department. The charges against him include:
Maliciously stabbing, cutting, or wounding with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or kill
Maliciously causing bodily injury with the same intent
Attempting to maliciously cause bodily injury with the same intent
Grand Larceny of a motor vehicle
Assault and battery of a family or household member
Driving with a suspended or revoked license
Reckless driving
Beavers is currently being held at RSW Regional Jail without bond. No photo of Beavers has been released at this time.
The incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns over domestic violence in the area. Local authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
